IN DENMARK, ONE SECURE DIGITAL ID CAN OPEN THE DOOR TO TAX, HEALTH, BANKING AND A LOT OF DAILY LIFE. IT IS BRILLIANT — PROVIDED THE SYSTEM DESERVES THE TRUST IT ASKS FOR.
Denmark went digital by default. Most interaction with public authorities happens online, with MitID acting as a secure key across public and private services.
Convenience is not the whole story
A digital state can save people time, reduce paperwork and make public services feel less like an obstacle course. It can also lock people out if access, language, privacy and human support are treated as afterthoughts.
The good version is not “put it online and call it modern.” The good version is secure, understandable and still answerable to the people using it.
Sources — not vibes
