DENMARK.GL is for Americans who are curious about Denmark beyond the postcards, the pricing of a hospital visit and the word hygge printed on a candle.
We have a point of view. We do not have a permission slip.
We think Denmark made a better bargain than most countries: people pay more together and get more security back. That does not mean Denmark is perfect, that every Danish policy works, or that a tax bill is a love letter. It means we are willing to say what we think—and show our work.
What we check
- For rules, benefits, taxes and public services, we start with the relevant Danish public authority.
- For numbers, we prefer the original dataset, a public agency or a clear research source—not a recycled internet claim.
- For Greenland, we use precise language: Greenland is self-governing within the Kingdom of Denmark, and its future belongs to Greenlanders.
- When a system is local, conditional or changing, we say so. “Free” is often shorthand; the details matter.
What this site is not
It is not a Danish government website. It is not financial, immigration, legal or medical advice. It is also not a Scandinavia mood board where every difficult fact gets hidden behind a wool blanket.
Corrections
We correct factual mistakes when we find them. Articles with fast-changing rules should name their sources and carry a fact-check date. If a claim cannot survive a source link, it does not belong here.
