Green Data Centers Are Not Automatically Green. Denmark Has the Ingredients.

PUTTING A DATA CENTER IN A COLD COUNTRY DOES NOT MAKE IT GREEN. CLEAN ELECTRICITY, EFFICIENT DESIGN AND HONEST ACCOUNTING DO.

Denmark attracts major data-centre investment with reliable fibre infrastructure and a large share of renewable electricity. Those are good starting conditions, not a free pass.

The standard should be higher

Big digital infrastructure uses real power, water and land. Companies should show their energy use, source cleaner power and make serious use of excess heat where possible. “Cloud” is not a synonym for weightless.

Sources — not vibes
