COPENHAGEN’S METRO, TRAINS, BUSES AND HARBOUR BUSES ALL WORK TOGETHER. THIS IS GOOD NEWS. THE ONLY RULE IS: BUY A VALID TICKET BEFORE YOU BOARD THE METRO OR TRAIN.
The city’s transport system is not a test of moral character. Use the Journey Planner, type in where you are and where you are going, and take the route it gives you. It works across metro, train, bus and harbour bus.
Three rules that prevent needless drama
- From the airport: take the metro or regional train. Copenhagen city centre is roughly 12–15 minutes away depending on where you are headed.
- Use the same system: one ticketing system covers metro, trains, buses and harbour buses. Check the zones before buying.
- Do not improvise ticket timing: buy before boarding trains or the metro. Inspectors are not moved by jet lag.
What should you buy?
If you only take a couple of rides, a single ticket is usually enough. If you are criss-crossing the city all day, look at a City Pass. If you also plan to visit many paid attractions, compare it with the Copenhagen Card instead of buying it on vibes.
The Danish brag
The metro runs 24/7, and the airport is connected to the city before you have had time to develop an opinion about luggage. That is how a capital should work.
Sources — not vibes
